Danny Frost has developed a national and international reputation for creating handmade contemporary and traditional furniture to commission. He is a man who can whole heartedly say he enjoys his work, and who can blame him? He spends his days designing and creating beautiful furniture and turned bowls in the heart of Cumbria.

He is a committed environmentalist, planting at least 1000 broad-leaved trees in a year. In winter 2003 he planted 6,500 native trees. All by-products from his craft such as the shavings and saw dust are additionally utilized by neighbouring businesses.

Danny studied Creative Design at Loughborough University, with the emphasis on designing and making furniture. After qualifying he worked as a joiner and furniture maker, specializing in repairs for the country's historic monuments like The Guild Hall in London, and the Houses of Parliament.

Danny lived and taught in New Zealand for two and a half years, where he learned about Maori crafts and woodcarving, which continue to influence his work today.

In 1993 Danny set up his own business in Cumbria. The expense of buying in timber prompted him to acquire a mobile chainsaw mill, felling on site, and removing unwanted trees. This has grown into an important part of the business, and he now has 2 bandsaw mills and a high tech heat vent kiln.
